I'm Still Around!

I haven't been posting much lately, but I have been knitting! I've finished the Clapotis, and just need to block and weave in the ends - I like it, but it's considerably smaller than the original. It only used two skeins of Manos del Uruguay, so I *could* have made it bigger, but I think I will like it this size.

I also knit a pair of Knitty's Fuzzyfeet out of luscious Lindon Merino from irishbabyknits.com in the Eire colorway. I haven't felted them yet because I'm scared the yarn won't felt well and it will ruin the beautiful yarn. BUT, hopefully soon I will get up the courage to do so!

Two baby sweaters are still languishing in a pile - maybe I'll get around to finishing them one of these days, and then find a baby to fit them. Ah, well.

Hybrid Rib Soaker

This is IrishBabyKnit's Elenya Alpaca, in the "McDermott" colorway. It's knit up on 5's or 6's, I forget which... and makes a really lovely fabric. It's much prettier knit up than it was in the center-pull ball, perfect for a springtime knit or perhaps something Easter-y.

Here's a Hybrid Rib soaker from Little Turtle Knits pattern, which I will be offering in a raffle at the Fiber Arts Avengers Hyena Cart. It's not yet washed/lanolised but it should be a pretty accurate size medium. It's a really quick knit and will be a lovely soaker for some lucky little baby - and hopefully raise a lot of money for Nat, a three year old with an aggressive brain tumor.

Fruit!

I made a few more stuffed pumpkins, and tried something new with the stems. I think this curvy stem is cute!
I used the same pattern, slightly modified , to make a cute little apple. I cast on 28, increased to 35, then worked for about 20 rows then I started working decreases every four stitches, then a knit row, then decreases every three stitches, then a knit row, then decreases every other row etc - ending up with 7 stitches which I just pulled the yarn through. Then I added a stem and tried to make a little leaf. The leaf is kind of pathetic but hey what can you do. I tacked it down to the apple.

Fiber Arts Avengers

I have recently joined a group called the Fiber Arts Avengers, which is a collection of crafters (knitters, quilters, dyers, diaper-makers, etc) who have come together to raise money for a variety of causes. Most recently, the "cause" is a little boy named Nat, called "The Professor" by his friends and family. Nat has a malignant brain tumor and will be undergoing all sorts of horrible treatments that no child (or adult!) should have to experience.

We'll be offering a series of auctions and raffles over the next few days, with the first listings going up on Friday. You can find out more here: http://hyenacart.com/Charity_raffles/ . Most of the auctions are baby/cloth diapering related, but I wanted to mention it just in case anyone is interested. I'm contributing some pumpkins toward a fantastic gift basket that will include lots of little stuffed fruits/veggies and blocks.
